Topic choices are stored in this browser. They do not record mastery or sync to the AQA account. If anonymous statistics are enabled, adding or removing a topic sends an aggregate topic/action event without a visitor identifier or answer text.

What is recorded

The site can count page views, broad device type, referral category, scroll depth, time spent on a page, outbound resource opens, grade-boundary use, clicks between Biology Help pages, practice starts, answered questions, correct and incorrect checks, clue and solution opens, completed sessions, recall starts, explanation reveals, self-ratings and completed recall sessions. Entered answers are not sent to analytics.

Chapter practice counts

Related chapter actions record a fixed book/chapter label when their panel is visible and when a practice link is clicked. A practice destination can carry that label to its aggregate session and completion events. These are counts of actions, not linked people or a per-student journey. Labels contain no visitor identifier. Anonymous-statistics opt-out applies to these events too.

What is not recorded

The analytics system does not create a visitor ID, store an IP address, save entered marks, retain textbook searches, or build a per-person browsing history. Daily files contain aggregate counters only.

Exam-practice drafts

Original case studies save your typed drafts (up to 3,000 characters per question), self-check points, review references and session progress in local storage on this browser. Drafts stay on your device; they are not sent to analytics or synced to an account. Use “Clear this set’s saved work” to remove that set’s drafts and progress. Case statistics count fixed set/action labels, selected-point totals and session completion, without draft text.

Exam-condition answers

The optional exam mode on three cases saves drafts, the first answer opened for review, guidance exposure and self-review ticks in its own browser storage. Its clear control does not erase guided practice. No answer text or ticks are sent to analytics; fixed case/question action labels are counted.

Answer-improvement drafts

The answer-improvement tool saves two drafts of up to 3,000 characters each, three review choices and the current stage for each of its twelve tasks in this browser. Drafts and choices stay on your device; they are not sent to analytics or synced to an account. “Clear saved work for this task” removes that task’s work. Ordinary aggregate page statistics follow the opt-out below.

Essay plans and process practice

Essay titles, topic drafts, ordering choices, process explanations (up to 2,000 characters each) and self-checks are saved in browser local storage. They stay on your device. Clear controls remove the saved work for that planner or trainer. Anonymous events use fixed tool/action labels and counts, never typed titles or drafts. These features follow the same statistics opt-out below.

Practical workbench drafts

Workbench design choices, calculation responses, evaluation drafts (up to 2,000 characters), self-checks and review stages save in this browser. Clear removes the saved work for that workbench. Anonymous events record only fixed workbench/action labels and dataset settings, never your entered calculation or draft. The same statistics opt-out applies.

Saved practice

The study tools and recall decks save session progress, self-ratings and missed-question or review-card references in local storage on this browser. They do not store your entered answers or sync with an account. Mixed sessions also save selected deck references, session progress and self-ratings in this browser, separately from individual-deck ratings. Use the clear control on the relevant tool, deck, mixed-session page or topic map to remove its saved data. Mixed-session analytics use fixed activity and count labels without sending your selected deck list. The statistics opt-out below controls analytics separately.
